Patrin Films is the first Romani led production company in the UK. We work to develop the Romany film industry, by supporting Romani filmmakers, with the production and distribution of their films. Our goal is to create a sustainable and innovative Romany film industry that is visible and appealing worldwide.  We are dedicated to capacity building, developing, and supporting Romany filmmakers by organizing workshops, seeking  funding, and opening pathways for  filmmakers to major international platforms. Our mission is to amplify the visibility of Romany ethnic identity, language, and culture through the production of documentary and fiction films.

Lisa Smith founded Patrin Films in 2023. Prior to this, she co-directed the International Festival of Romani Film, a pioneering platform that brings global attention to Romani filmmakers and narratives. She is also a founding member of the European Roma Film Professionals Network, a key network that fosters cross-border collaboration, professional development, and enhanced visibility for Roma creatives within the European film industry. In addition to her work in film production and advocacy, Lisa serves as a Research Associate at the Research Institute for Antigypsyism in Film at Heidelberg University in Germany.
